PROOF OF IDENTITY
Each individual sitting the safe boating course MUST provide the following Proof of Identity (POI)
Full POI Documents (1 of these documents required)
- Current photo drivers licence issued within Australia
- Current Australian passport
- Current document of identity issued by the passport office
- Current Australian Defence Force photograph identity card
- Current photo PWC photo licence
- Current Birth Card issued by the Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages
- Current Federal or NSW Police Office photograph identity card
- Current NSW photograph (firearms or security) licence issued by or through the RTA.
OR
Primary POI Documents (1 of these documents required + 1 Secondary document)
- NSW Firearm or Security Licence that has expired within the last two years
- Full birth certificate or certified extract
- Australian naturalization or citizenship document
- Current overseas passport
- Australian passport or document of identity expired within the last two years.
AND
Secondary POI Documents (1 of these documents required + 1 Primary document)
- Telephone, gas or electricity bill not more than 12 months old
- Current Medicare card, pension card or Veteran’s Affairs card
- Current credit card, account card
GENERAL YOUNG ADULT LICENCE
Young adult licences are available for persons aged between 12 years and under 16 years of age.
For young adult applicants only, POI requirements can be met by providing their full birth certificate (original or certified copy).
Young adult applicants must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who must sign a declaration consenting to the young adult obtaining a boat licence.
The parent/legal guardian must also provide acceptable POI documents.
PRIOR STUDY
The compulsory safe boating course and test requires students to be well prepared before attending the course. A good understanding of the current NSW Maritime Boating Handbook is required prior to attending the safe boating course.
APPLICANTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS
Sailingworld Pty Ltd (trading as Boating Licence Course) must ensure that applicants for a General Boat Licence;
- whose first language is not English
- who are deaf and use AUSLAN and require an interpreter; or
- who have difficulty comprehending written questions and require an oral test,
are directed to contact their local NSW Maritime Operations Centre to make alternative Boat Licence Course and Test arrangements.
REFUND POLICY
Sailingworld guarantees that if a student is not completely satisfied with the course delivery or material by the completion of the first day, all fees paid will be discussed and at our discretion provide a full or partial refund. In the event that you cannot attend the course, refunds are not available, however, given at least 2 days notice your booking and payment may be transferable to another date.
BOATING HANDBOOK
The NSW Maritime's Boating Handbook provides essential boating information for operating on NSW waters. It is recommended that you read through the literature provided prior to sitting the test. The downloadable files are in *.pdf format, able to be viewed in Adobe Acrobat.
