Why Do You Need A NSW Boat Licence?
To drive a powered vessel for recreational purposes on NSW waterways at a speed of 10 knots (18.5 km/h) or more, you need a general boat driving licence.
With our NSW boat licence courses, it doesn’t matter if you are brand new to the world of boating or have been boating since you were in diapers. Our courses help you get through the required boating safety education and achieve your NSW boat licence in no time!
Students must be 12 & up to obtain a NSW boat licence, with students aged 12 to up to 16 years being able to obtain a young adult licence with a few restrictions compared to its adult counterpart.
To get the NSW boat licence, you are required to sit the NSW boat licence 50 question exam in addition to obtaining some practical experience, completed in your logbook. For those with prior boating experience, this can be backdated up to 12 months, but if you are new to the boating scene, you’ll need to do at least 3 trips with someone who already has their NSW boat licence for at least 3 years.
